Hyperthyroidism

Category Hyperthyroidism

Hyperthyroidism is a thyroid disorder. The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland on the front of your body. Tetraiodothyronine (T4 ) and triiodothyronine (T3), which are two primary hormones that regulate how energy is used by your cells, are made. Via the release of these hormones, the thyroid gland controls the metabolism.
When the thyroid develops too much T4, T3, or both, hyperthyroidism occurs. Diagnosis of overactive thyroid and treatment of the underlying cause can relieve symptoms and prevent complications.
